STAINLESS STEEL WELD CLEANING

The non-rusting properties of stainless steels are due to a very thin, invisible oxide film, which completely covers the surface of the parts thereby, preventing corrosion. Under certain circumstances, a thin coating of rust may appear. Passivation is the process by which a stainless steel will spontaneously form a chemically inactive surface when exposed to air or other oxygen-containing environments.. Passivation removes exogenous iron or iron compounds from the surface of a stainless steel by means of a chemical dissolution that will remove the surface contamination.Electropolishing is recognized as one of the methods of providing Passivation without further treatment. As Electropolishing solution removes the iron ions from the surface of the part, it leaves much of the chromium, nickel and carbon behind on the surface of the metal.

COREX Weld Cleaning System removes heat tint (bluing) and passivates through an electrochemical process. TIG and spot weld discoloration is removed, restoring the original finish. COREX Cleaning System will clean and passivate the weld area in one operation.

The machine is also able to be used for marking the material surface for cosmetic or identification purposes.
